Making Minecraft private Server for Free on Mac and PC

Making a server for your own (private server), you can invite your friends, your family or anyone join your world and experience Minecraft.

There are 2 options for you to choose, the first one is Vanilla which is a private server for enjoying game with friends. The second one is Bukkit which is public server allowing getting briefed, stuff and spammed. Therefore, depending on your purpose, you can choose a suitable one. We will show you the way to make a both these 2 servers.

Making Minecraft private Server on PC

  1. Create Vanilla server for win 7/Vista/XP

  • Create a folder and name it as you want
  • Go to https://minecraft.net/download and click on 7.10.exe to download and save it side the folder you’ve created
  • Run this file, wait for it says “Done” and close it
  • In the folder, find file txt and enter your Minecraft username to set yourself as an operator. In case you want to add more users, press enter and add the other username
  • Open .properties server with notepad then edit spawn-monsters=false to spawn-monsters=true
  • Forward the port to get other people then let them know your ip address to help them join your server
  1. Create Bukkit server for Windows

  • Create a folder and name it as you want
  • Go to “cbukk.it/content/groups/public//org/bukkit/craftbukkit/1.6.4-R2.0/craftbukkit-1.6.4-R2.0.jar” to start downloading Bukkit. Then rename its name to “bukkit.jar
  • Open Notepad then enter:
  • Save the file with name “bat” inside the folder you’ve created
  • Open file startserver.bat and wait for it loads all necessary components

*Note: File startserver.bet should be run while you are playing on your server

Making Minecraft private Server on Mac

  1. Download Vanilla for Mac

  • Create a folder and name it as you want
  • Go to https://minecraft.net/download and click on 7.10.jar to download and save it inside the folder you’ve created
  • Open textedit>Format> Make Plain Text then enter text:

     
  • Save this file with name command in the folder you created
  • Open Terminal (in spotlight or Launchpad), enter “chmod a+x ” then drag in the command into the window
  • Tap enter
  • Open the file to load worlds and stuff

*Note: keep running the file while playing

  1. Create Bukkit server for Mac

  • Create a folder and name it as you want
  • Go to “repo.bukkit.org/content/groups/public/org/bukkit/craftbukkit/1.6.4-R2.0/craftbukkit-1.6.4-R2.0.jar” to start downloading then rename it to ‘jar
  • Open TextEdit, make it plain text then enter text:
  • Save the file with name command into folder you created
  • Open Terminal (in spotlight or Launchpad), enter text “chmod a+x “ and drag the file into the window
  • Tap enter
  • Open the file to load worlds and stuff
